Anger is an important emotion. It deserves attention. When it becomes hard to control it can be quite upsetting for individuals and those around them. I work with clients to determine the root of the anger and employ strategies to better manage anger. I strive to help clients understand their anger, the triggers and how to deescalate, leading to better emotional control.

Is your anger out of control? Anger is a normal, healthy emotion, when we have been mistreated or wronged. Anger is not the problem – it is what you do with it that causes problems. Anger becomes a problem when we are out of control, which can result in serious consequences. Psychotherapy and counseling can help you gain insight about your explosive episodes of anger. With a deeper understanding and self-knowledge you will have personal power over your behavior and anger management skills to keep your temper from sabotaging your life. Anger management takes work, but changing sabotaging anger gets easier with commitment and practice. The payoff can be better relationships and confidence.

Everyone gets angry. It is a natural emotion that makes up your personality. However there may be times when your anger becomes very difficult to control and it has negative consequences on individuals, families, and work environments. Learning how to consciously and unconsciously express anger is an important part of anger management. With counselling, Lesley aims to help individuals in St. John's identify triggers and replace negative behaviors with positive and manageable behaviors. Learning the difference between aggression and assertiveness is key within anger management.
