Although I am licensed as a psychoanalyst in New York, over my 37 years of practice I have also trained in Gestalt therapy, bioenergetics, art therapy, psychodrama, group therapy, couples therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Thus I am eclectic and I apply whatever modality is needed in each case. I recognize that no two people are alike and there is no one size fits all for treatment. I work collaboratively with clients to identify the specific needs and challenges that they would like to address. Together, we then determine which interventions will likely be most helpful for achieving one’s goals. I have extensive experience helping clients with a variety of challenges, including managing acute and chronic stressors, overcoming mood and anxiety symptoms, managing relational stress, gaining control of self-defeating habits and behaviors, and coping with sudden and expected losses.

I believe that an attuned and empathic relationship is the basis for effective therapy. Therapy can provide the space to address difficult life issues with support and guidance. I work to create an atmosphere of safety and respect in which issues can emerge, be understood and resolved. When clients graduate from treatment, they take with them a box full of "tools", such as effective anger management techniques, avoiding confrontations that lead to negative expressions of anger, resolving conflict peacefully and quietly, making the right decisions in every aspect of life, and perseverance to always build skills against life's problems and apply them consistently.

My approach to psychotherapy starts with you--hearing the story the pain or difficulty you're carrying, the goals you have for your wellness, and the relationships you want to strengthen. I work with children, teens, adults, and couples and help with challenges like depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, sexual abuse and assault, grief, and anger management. In my work with teens and adults, I use a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and strength-based approaches that start with a culturally sensitive lens. With couples, I draw on the Gottman Method to promote healthy communication and emotional connection. Play, art, and creative therapies help me connect with children.

Utilizing different mechanisms in order to explore how to make a better version of yourself and improve your wellness, recovery process, and mental health. I specialize in brief online relationship counseling. Online counseling allows clients to seek help as needed, engage in therapy at a schedule that's convenient to them, and keep their counselor as they progress through life. I work with LGBTQ and hetero clients on individual, couple, and alternative relationship concerns.
