Career counseling is similar to other types of counseling. In working with my client the focus of therapy is on issues such as career exploration, career change, personal career development and other career related issues. I work with my clients to help them with feelings of inadequacy, clearing out the clutter to make the right decisions and next steps.

Do you feel like lack of social confidence, anxiety, and poor social skills are keeping you back at work? Or maybe you are just starting your career and selecting jobs that won't require talking much to others or socializing, because you just feel so anxious even thinking about that. Do you dread group work, social events, speaking out in meetings, parties and networking? I have good news for you! Social confidence is a learned skill, one you can learn just like any other. Adolescents is a time to set goals for the future. As a middle and high school counselor, I have taught college and career lessons, led parent informational nights, facilitated family meetings, and provided one-on-one counseling. As your teen's therapist, I will help them to identify their strengths, skills, and interests. From there, we will explore careers and possible majors or paths to that career. Once that is known, we will research the programs or colleges that will get your teen where they want to be. The process can be stressful, but also exciting! I will be there every step of the way. Together, we can help your teen achieve their post-secondary goals!

Deciding on a career is scary and challenging. I provide a safe space for clients to find career path that resonates with them most and seek the best route to reach their goals. Usually if there are mental blocks along the way, we will work on self esteem, past trauma and negative thinking patterns so the client can make the best decision while learning about themselves.

I work with many high school and college students to help develop and refine their academic and career goals and achieve them. For those in the corporate world, I assist with stress management and the setting and attainment of short and long term goals. I work with teachers and school administrators on managing the very stressful demands of their work environment while looking ahead to career choices as their jobs and responsibilities evolve in their rapidly changing work milieu . I also work with individuals with developmental disabilies to help them develop confidence and define options in the workplace uniquely suited to their abilities. Please note that I do not provide testing.

I can help you articulate your professional goals and chart a course to have a happier and healthier worklife (and work-life balance!). A lot of clients come to me for help with job stress. We'll start with a thorough history of your career--what you studied, what you love to do, what energizes you, and where you want to go. I don't do formal career counseling, but enjoy counseling entrepreneurs, business men and women, and performing artists. We would help you develop better assertiveness skills, clarify direction, improve motivation, encourage and guide you in negotiating higher salaries and rates, and cope with job/career crisis and change. I have worked with many people who lost their jobs in the current economic downturn. I also have a specialty working with performing artists to help them find satisfying jobs that allow them to pursue their art, and work with them on stage fright, creative blocks, and balancing relationship/work.

Individuals can learn emotion regulation and interpersonal skills to assist in building confidence.

I leverage a solution-based approach to clearly outline your primary challenge, work through an exercise to meditate on and define your future state and then work over 8 sessions to achieve it via homework and 1:1 sessions. Clients have experienced great success with this approach, my goal is to empower you - YOU have the answers and I want to help you find them.
