Anxiety interferes with the roles and relationships in your life by preventing you from being content and present in whatever activity you are doing at the time. It can feel terrifying and leave you feeling hopeless about life ever getting better. The way to attack stress and anxiety in counseling is by talking through the fears and allowing yourself to experience them in a slow, safe way. This can lead to freedom from the constant feelings of doom, from panic attacks, and from high stress, and result in greater freedom to experience joy and peace in your life.

Anxiety Disorders are generally created by either negative Cognitions (Scripts) learned in childhood, a lack of intimate connection to other people, and/or from Traumatic experiences, such as physical or sexual abuse. Steve's approach to eliminating Anxiety from client's lives includes teaching Cognitive Behavioral tools that enable clients to re-write their own scripts and then, if necessary, to Re-process Traumatic memories and other faulty learning with EMDR. Other tools taught or used include Deep Breathing Techniques, Exercise and Diet, Communication skills, and group involvement. Clients will become able to eliminate Anxiety any time it occurs with the use of their new Coping Skills

Anxiety symptoms can be debilitating for some clients. I aim to help empower my clients to feel a sense of control over their lives versus feeling their emotions are controlling them. We will work on identifying what triggers symptoms and learning to recognize physical, cognitive and behavioral signals of your anxiety. I will then teach you tools to manage your symptoms, including relaxation and thought redirection strategies. We will also explore thought patterns that are contributing to your symptoms, and work on rebuilding more positive, adaptive thoughts, resulting in a healthier you.
