I believe that mental health is an "innate gift" that can't be damaged no mater what circumstances my clients have experienced. I assist my clients to realized that they have as much mental health, love, and wisdom inside them as anybody, including me, and I help them to realize how to access this health and enjoy their life.

A Psychologist differs from other counselors because he is able to give a diagnostic code and the characteristics of that particular problem or disorder. As a Psychologist, I am interested in overview and studying the cause and effects of how an individual got to where he/she is. This often means digging into the past as we learn the legacy one gained from each parent. Knowing how one got to where they are is usually a big step towards healing.

Our psychologists address the immediate goal of understanding individuals, couples and groups using the general principles of psychology. We practice psychotherapy, addressing a broad range of issues, and also offer testing and assessment, marriage and couple counseling, group therapy and family therapy. While our psychologists represent a variety of theoretical approaches, all have in common respect for the individual and a belief in the ability to gain self-understanding which leads to positive change.

As a psychologist, I am educated and trained to deeply attend to the client(s) I serve. This attending can be very different from one client to another. Where one client may want a structured approach to receiving help, another may want a completely abstract approach tailored specifically to his or her needs. It is my role to understand these differences and then fill my clients needs.

As a Psychologist, I am interested in finding out what problem my client is facing, accurately diagnose that problem, and write up (and read to the client) two treatment goals and several objectives to reach each of them. When clients see I really understand them as a person, (not just what is going wrong with them), they see I can relate to them; and that gives them hope that recovery is only a few footsteps away.
