Clients move from “patterns of limited thinking” to developing alternative balanced thoughts and learn how to stop their anxiety by identifying and altering the thoughts accompanying the anxiety. We teach thought stopping, worry control, and coping with panic. Clients address their symptoms in four areas of physical reactions, thoughts, behaviors and moods. assign exercises from various workbooks with a focus on clients ability to identify and challenge “automatic thoughts” and “hot thoughts.” Utilizing the premise that emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are interconnected clients practice the skills of mindfulness and distress tolerance for managing their emotions.

While most treatment approaches for anxiety and stress are effective on the surface, they don’t treat the real problem. Mantras, deep breathing, and rational dialogues about your fear being irrational rarely work---for most people don’t believe it or you! Imagine if you can trick the brain into changing without you telling your conscious mind that you are changing it? Problem with anxiety and stress is that the brain in this state knows you want to change it and it resists. Contact Kevin@kevinfleminphd.com for the ultimate stress and anxiety solution that will literally change your brain's autonomic nervous system patterns while you sit on your butt. 877-606-6161.

Anxiety and stress are two of the most common plagues of our society. They are also two of the most fixable. I've seen clients overcome amazing obstacles about specific anxiety (i.e., flying or dealing with certain family members) as well as the everyday stress that seems inescapable these days. We can't always change the circumstances, but I can give you lots of tools to change how you respond to them and to take back control.

It is popular in modern society to view anxiety as a "chemical imbalance in the brain." This is rarely the case. Instead, anxiety is typically the result of unaddressed and/or unresolved stressors in one's life and/or one's sense of self. I work extensively with people to address these stressors. Most often they find the outcome is very much a success.
