All of us experience anger from time to time. It's normal, commonly experienced emotion. However, anger can be incredibly destructive if we don't know how to control it. If you feel that your anger is really out of control, if it is having an impact on your relationships and on important parts of your life, you might want to consider counseling to learn how to handle it better.

I have worked with many teenagers and adults around anger management and conflict resolution as well as people who struggle with anxiety, phobias, depression, workplace issues and family conflict, especially around parenting. I am flexible in my approach and would welcome people to come in and discern whether my approach would be helpful. I utilize an eclectic approach that is individually tailored to suit each client's needs, and incorporate various traditional, holistic and complementary therapies to help individuals, families and groups improve their personal accountability and strengthen healthy coping skills. I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your courageous journey through Life.

You cannot have high self-esteem and be angry at the same time. The lower your self-esteem, the more vulnerable you are to being angry. Showing your anger in reactive ways doesn't communicate what you really are trying to say. We teach clients how to raise their self-esteem and how what angers them is related to something they believe about themselves. We also offer cognitive-behavioral tools to help individuals and couples address, express and feel their anger.

Aristotle famously stated that getting angry was easy, but doing so in the right way, and for the right reasons, and to the right degree was not so easy. To this day, those words are a truth. It is a problem that has yet to be universally solved, but instead, must be done individually, in the course of one's life. However, there are keys and tools and understandings that are universal. Providing these tools is a large part of my work, as I work extensively with men and women struggling with anger problems and domestic violence.

I often will tell people that our feelings have a way of being heard, whether we want them to or not! You might try to deny your anger or to bury it deep within yourself, but it will almost always find a way to express itself! And really, anger is NOT your enemy, though it might feel that way now. Anger has a place and a purpose in your life, but not if you're using it as a weapon against yourself or your loved ones. You can learn to cope with it so it's not a destructive force in your life! I like to teach people ways to more effectively manage their emotions, and then we can explore where the anger is coming from to try and resolve some of those issues as well.

At Home or Private Discreet Intensives
Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D approaches issues of anger management in a very humane yet fresh perspective. You see, anger is a normal emotion but it is the valence (intensity) as well as the coupling choice of what one does with this that is the problem. Telling someone to "not" do it or modifying behavior with a trite psychological plan that only breeds a compliant response is not the way to change anger. Brainwave optimization is a new cutting edge technology that allows one to rewire circuitry responsible for reactivity driving the anger. I am a psychotherapist who understands life can feel like a daily struggle. No one should have to endure these feelings alone. I compassionately listen and support clients as well as offer a therapeutic relationship that provides clients the opportunity to emotionally move forward and bring a healthy balance back into their lives. Counseling empowers clients to gain healthy coping skills, experience self care and process new ways to work through personal difficulties. Understanding feelings behind anger allow clients to feel more relaxed, have increased energy, feel less stressed, become motivated, experience satisfaction in relationships, and cope with difficulties in life easier.

Anger Management is an important tool to have in all aspects of your life. Some people run away from their anger and others can become aggressive and violent with their anger. In working on this issue, we would need to find out where your anger stems from and where you learned to deal with your anger in negative ways. People often confuse aggression with assertiveness. One does not have to be aggressive when one is assertive. Learning the difference is very important, just as learning that you don't have make others feel like less for you to feel whole. I can help you learn strategies to make changes to have healthier relationships and communications.
