Lots of us are numbing out our lives, choosing compulsive, trancelike activities rather than dealing effectively with our feelings and life circumstances. When you are in an active addiction, you don’t realize that the addiction actually complicates your life more. People think that turning to these activities give them relief, when really addictions bring on more complications. I have training and experience with all types of addiction, and can help you to get free from this cycle of self-destructive behavior and be present in your life.

We use a client centered approach, supplementing individual therapy with family treatment and group therapy as appropriate. We address substance abuse and other addictions, and have therapists who have completed certificates in sexual health. We are in the process of becoming certified for gambling addiction treatment through the State of Michigan. For opiate and other substance addictions, we work closely with a medical doctor who treats addictions. We have offered alternatives to traditional Intensive Outpatient Programs, creating individualized intensive treatment programs utilizing individual, family and group treatment.

Sexual addiction is our top specialty. Those with out of control sexual behaviors find themselves missing work, staying up all night, going against their own values and putting themselves at risk for legal, marital and health consequences. We don't pathologize the sexual behaviors, we explore the unhealthy relationship the client has with the sexual behaviors. There isn't any certain sexual act that is problematic as much as it is the compulsivity around it. Worse is the effects on a someone who discovers their partner is sexual acting out with other people, pornography or any other sexual betrayal. The betrayal is profound and recovering from this demands the right set of therapeutic tools.

Addiction is a huge threat to one's well-being. I teach individuals how to deal with temptation and put a plan in place. Surrounding oneself with positive people who can assist is also critical.
