Depression can feel like paralysis of the entire being; an enemy of the soul and a mind trapped by a dark cloud with no escape, making "normal" functioning difficult. To simply say it is "mind over matter" seems insensitive and minimizing. We trust that if a person seeks help with depression, they desire something different, which may require hard work. We explore causes, and with a sensitive approach, encourage intentional thinking and behavior as a means to create new patterns and new experiences. Recognizing this process may go against what feels possible and natural, it is our desire to help people learn ways of not just coping and managing, but to enjoy life, not merely endure it.
Depression Counselor
Kevin Fleming, Ph.D.
Coach/Change Agent/Consultant
At Home or Private Discreet Intensives
Grey Matters International, Inc. and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D. handles depression and other emotional disorders in a very unique way. Most of therapy or counseling processes utilize validation, unconditional positive regard, and reframing as common techniques to get someone to heal from their depression. Though this can be helpful, it rarely fixes the core problem behind it and for tough cases we then refer them usually to a psychiatrist for medication which can have tons of side effects. Instead, why not try a natural and arguably more effective way to not just change your mind, but change the brain--where the depression is rooted. Contact us at kevin@kevinflemingphd.com.

In Depression Counseling/Treatment, my approach is multifaceted, integrating evidence-based practices with a client-centered and holistic perspective. I believe in fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust, empathy, and collaboration, where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences of depression without judgment. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness-based interventions, and psychodynamic principles, I tailor the treatment to each client's unique needs and preferences. Together, we work to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop coping strategies, and explore underlying emotions and experiences.
