There's grief; there's mourning; there's lamenting; and there's what we call complicated grief, which basically means that the layers of grief are so heavy and thick, that what would seem to be normal grief triggers unresolved loss. Working through the past losses, particularly those that have to do with our self-esteem and ability to express ourselves, the loss of one's authenticity, is what makes normal grief complicated.
