My approach to grief counseling involves understanding the five phases of grief and moving towards eventual acceptance. Learning to understand, cope with, express and accept ones feelings about a lost loved one is the goal of grief and loss therapy. I also help clients to find ways to come to some kind of resolution of the loss and its impact on his or her life.

Grief and loss can be experienced after a major life event like divorce, or the death of someone close to you. The time after a major loss of any kind is exceedingly difficult. So many different areas of your life are affected! Every day will feel different. Holidays aren't the same. Those around you may not understand the effects that the loss has had on you. Everyone grieves differently. When we work through your grieving process, you will not be rushed, and we will tailor it to your needs specifically.

Grief counseling helps people cope with grief and mourning following the loss of a loved one or due to major life changes that trigger feelings of grief (i.e. job loss or divorce). It provides a space for individuals to work through and process the complex emotions surrounding loss. Healthy grieving results in remembering the loss with a newfound sense of peace, rather than searing pain.

As an experienced Christian Counselor and ordained pastor, I’ve supported many men through the grief process. If you’re grieving, I will provide a supportive space for you to process your emotions. Because grief is a normal part of being human, I can’t take it away or rush you through it. However, I can help you identify barriers to grief, and help you prevent the grief process from becoming stuck. I know grief professionally. But I also know grief personally. Losing one of my best friends and my beloved grandparents was hard enough, but facing the untimely death of my father was, and is, a uniquely painful experience.
