It's hard to complete daily tasks that were once routine. It's hard to get out of bed in the morning because the thought of just starting the day with life the way it is now seems like it's just impossible. Why is it so hard to move on? Why can't you just feel better? Maybe it's because you feel guilty about something you said or didn't say before a death. Maybe you feel left behind, and are angry because of your loss. You could feel some shame for feeling just a little bit relieved that the person is gone. Grief is a normal process, and it looks different for everyone. Because grief is a normal part of being human, I can’t take it away or rush you through it. However, I can help you identify barriers to grief, and help you prevent the grief process from becoming stuck. I know grief professionally. But I also know grief personally. Losing one of my best friends and my beloved grandparents was hard enough, but facing the untimely death of my father was, and is, a uniquely painful experience.
