Psychotherapy is the practice of using psychology to address mental health issues (as opposed to physical, occupational, or speech therapy). Psychotherapy may be practiced by a variety of professionals such as psychologists, marriage and family counselors, licensed clinical social workers, and psychiatrists. I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in a cognitive behavioral treatment of anxiety and mood disorders.

Standard cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT) is used for most conditions, although other therapies and techniques will be applied as needed. Emphasis is placed on making positive, lasting changes. Clients may benefit from a decrease in symptoms, improved functioning, improved self-esteem, greater self-understanding, improved insight, and personal growth.
