My relationship with God is who I am. I began going to Willow Creek Community Church when it was only 500 people. Today it hosts over 30,000 on a weekend. I have a strong biblical background as I also attended a small Christian college, Azusa Pacific University, for my bachelor's degree where I took many theology classes. At Willow Creek my husband & I helped launch the DuPage campus, led the Marriage Matters ministry for 4 years, and have served in many other areas. My goal is as a Christian counselor is to create an safe place where you know you matter to God so that you can work through you pains, hurts, and relationship concerns.

I believe we are wired physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I believe God desires to bring healing to our hurts and pains by the Holy Spirit. I work with clients spiritually based on their desire to incorporate spirituality. I will expose christianity bu not impose it. My hope l would be for them to see God as a tender loving God not a judgmental one.

I am a Christian, and I am very comfortable sharing that information with others. Although I may not agree with the specific beliefs of a particular form of Christianity, I do not believe that it is appropriate for me to judge, and I am accepting of differences. I am able to discuss the impact of our beliefs on our behavior; I am also able to encourage the use of our beliefs as a form of support.

My Christian faith is integrated into my life and work, and who I am as a person. My years of experience in pastoral care in various church settings, as well as my graduate training at Wheaton College in Illinois, has enabled me to competently discuss, and explore issues of faith and application with a broad range of believers. I am familiar with many denominations and faith practices, and welcome including the Bible in our work together, if desired. Know that I pray privately for all my clients each day, and am open to including prayer in our session as well. As a Christian I have seen first hand how God and his principles provide transformation and redemption in my life and in others' lives. In my practice, I utilize a Grace-based, Biblical approach as I believe Jesus provides true change and freedom. Often, it is our inadequate understanding of how God views us that leads to problems of poor self- worth, anxiety and depression. Many times, we can get caught up with "doing" for God rather than "abiding in Him". In our work together we will explore your relationship with God and identify how to strengthen it as well as how to apply Biblical truths to experience true freedom and healing.

Learning what God's word says in the area of marriage, parenting, worry, sadness and relationships can be life changing. Applying what His word says is sure to be one of the most affective tools to live a life that will be God honoring and living in obedience to what God wants for our lives. Having a strong prayer life and someone to hold us accountable will allow effect change to take place that is consistent and long lasting. Realizing that God creates a God size hole in our hearts that only He can fill may be a game changer for many.

Though raised Christian/Catholic, I now am a practicing Buddhist. I continue to carry, use and incorporate Christian beliefs to my personal life and my professional work. I find that Buddhist concepts can enhance all faith styles. For example, I frequently teach, if desired, mindfulness, meditation and laughter yoga concepts and strategies to clients and they find them very helpful (and fun !!)

For clients that place importance in spiritually, biblically based counseling can be beneficial. Faith based counseling can assist a wide range of clients including couples, families, and individuals while using religion to help guide the way. Clients will gain empowerment as they learn to incorporate their beliefs and values to direct the counseling process. Faith based counseling can be effective in coping with a wide variety of life’s issues while using the holistic approach to improve a client’s mind, body and spirit.

As a devoted Christian myself, our goal with patients who seek christian counseling may get sessions that help bring christian values while also addressing their issues at hand. Our goal is to put God at the center of their healing as well as helping patients work through any questions they may have with their faith, or help them uncover various strategies to express their faith and try to integrate it into their day to day life.

You'll benefit from a reduction of symptoms, and a renewed relationship with Jesus and yourself. I believe that by allowing ourselves to ask Christ to help us with our problems, combined with spiritually focused, problem solving counseling, you can begin to find a renewed sense of purpose, spirituality and inner happiness.

As a Christ-follower I understand the role spirituality plays in all dimensions of life. In fact, one of my favorite verses contains these words of Christ, "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10) In order to have a full life it takes work on God's part and ours. God's virtues of grace, mercy, and unconditional love are powerful motivators for transformation. As we embrace these virtues, God empowers us to live a full life. I offer Christian counseling to individuals, couples, and/or families who value their relationship with Christ and understand that he plays a primary role in the change they seek.
