Marriage and Couples Mental Health in Honolulu
Honolulu is a great place for couples and families, because the city has relatively low rates of poverty, drug abuse, and depression.2 However, with nearly 28 percent of Honolulu County residents under the age of 18, over 15 percent of residents over the age of 65, and many specialized populations such as veterans and immigrants,3 the need for comprehensive family and marriage counseling services is quite high. The Hawaii Primary Care Association operates five community health centers across Honolulu and many more throughout the state. Each center provides an array of family-related services, from medical and dental care to comprehensive mental health care. Because of the diverse population in Honolulu, services are offered in over a dozen languages. As a non-profit agency, Hawaii Primary Care Association is always in need of monetary donations.
