Anger can get triggered in situations where you feel disrespected, shamed, rejected, powerless, not heard, not valued, or not safe. My approach for helping clients reduce their anger is to identify past experiences that elicit anger, frustration, fear, shame or other upsetting emotions and negative thoughts now, and then to reprocess those memories with EMDR therapy. I have also helped clients understand why they feel they need to hold on to their anger and then work through the blocks to letting the anger go while still helping them find other ways to feel in control, heard, respected or safe. Note: I do not offer Anger Management classes to meet work or court ordered requirements.

Anger is often a cover for fear or sadness. Underlying most anger is a deeper emotion, one that feels paralyzing or helpless. Since sadness and fear feel weak, but anger feels strong and powerful, many people use anger to deal with depression or anxiety. My approach to anger is twofold: 1), to help you learn techniques on how to manage your anger and deal with people and situations that trigger your anger, and 2) to understand the feelings underlying anger and how to overcome those in order to reduce the amount of anger in the first place. Deciding to get help for your anger is a courageous first step toward improving your quality of life and your relationships.

I would say that most people in society walk around with anger, not necessarily what someone would refer to as "anger issues" but anger even if it is subconscious. It can sabotage healthy thinking and decisions. There are ways to address anger and it's not complicated. Addressing anger can very often reduce or stop feelings of anxiety or depression.

“Where there is anger, there is always pain underneath.” – Eckhart Tolle. Anger can feel like a constant unwanted companion. Oftentimes, anger is really a sort of coping strategy which isn’t serving you well. I’d be happy to help you find the root of your anger while learning better ways of handling interactions. By learning to explain your anger rather than expressing it, you will open the door to solutions instead of arguments. You can benefit with a lighter heart and greatly improved relationships.

At Home or Private Discreet Intensives
Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D approaches issues of anger management in a very humane yet fresh perspective. You see, anger is a normal emotion but it is the valence (intensity) as well as the coupling choice of what one does with this that is the problem. Telling someone to "not" do it or modifying behavior with a trite psychological plan that only breeds a compliant response is not the way to change anger. Brainwave optimization is a new cutting edge technology that allows one to rewire circuitry responsible for reactivity driving the anger.
