Family therapy involves two or more members in the family unit. Everyone will get a chance to get their needs heard in session while learning ways to effectively interact with the other members. There are many reasons for families to come to family counseling: enhancing communication, parent / child conflict, divorce, new baby, blended families, problems in school, bullying, etc.

Everyone has a role in a family - whether it was a chosen role or assigned to you by your parents. Discovering your role, and whether you want to continue in the role is truly up to you. I can help with setting boundaries, and with those "walking on eggshells" relationships. Family relationships can be entrenched and hard to navigate. I can help untangle, understand and heal these relationships.

This will ultimately result in a better functioning home environment. The psychotherapy should reduce stress and conflict by improving the interactions between family members. As a family therapist, I seek to have all family members affected by the problem in the room; use different techniques to accomplish the goals.
