Depression can feel like being lost in a big, dark forest. Or it can feel just like being down or sad or blue. Whatever it feels like, we’ll trace those feelings to see where they lead and what they’re trying to communicate. You won’t be left alone in the darkness or told to ‘snap out of it’. We’ll take a holistic mind/body approach to recovering your life. Journaling, communication skills, mindfulness and health and wellness education are some of what counseling will be.

We help our client to overcome or manage depression symptoms through holding safe space for them to work through difficult emotions and experiences in a supportive environment. Depression can be caused by many different factors and can be temporary or chronic. Processing traumatic experiences and gaining perspective into what is contributing to your symptoms can shed light on how to lessen the severity and have more good days than bad. We will utilize therapy techniques tailored to your specific needs to assist you in making progress.

Let me help untangle the emotions and heal the pain. My job is to listen and find out gradually where the wound is - and then heal it. I utilize cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and interpersonal therapies to treat depression. These methods focus on addressing problematic ways of thinking and behaving which create and/or maintains depression symptoms. Depression seeps into all parts of life and it is more than 'willpower' to 'get happy.' It takes work, commitment, and a willingness to see what else life has to offer. I give clients support and encouragement to see that new possibility.
