Psychotherapy is a focused, Interactive process, and which we work together to find solutions to your specific needs and problems. Sometimes we focus on dysfunctional thoughts ("Stinkin' Thinkin'), sometimes on destructive emotions, sometimes in the past, but most often in the present. I tend to be very active in the therapy process, and often give "homework" assignments. It is important that we establish clearly defined goals for therapy at the outset, so that we realize when those goals have been reached.

I work with an entire person--the mind, emotions, body, spirit, relationships. I offer an alternative approach to traditional psychotherapy because sometimes we are stuck beyond our thoughts. I believe we are often stuck beyond how we think about something, but by how our body holds and remembers the experiences. After all, we feel the anxiety in our chest, shoulders or stomach. When we are depressed, we struggle to move, sleep, concentrate etc. I work to remove the block from wherever it is stuck. My clients come to me after years of ineffective therapy. They are looking for more than talking about their struggles or identifying how they think about them in favor of a change in living.

The focus of my work is supporting teens and couples in making positive changes toward greater life balance, resilience, and acceptance, while exploring meaning and purpose, in order to live authentically. I have supported teens, adults, and couples facing issues ofgrief, depression, anxiety, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), anger management, caregiver fatigue, codependency, relationship conflict and/or betrayal, and life transitions. I provide meaning-centered therapy for teens and adults using supportive and evidence-based treatments. As your counselor, I will provide you the safe space to explore your values, grief, and feelings , while receiving nonjudgmental support.

With a Master’s degree in counseling, I’m trained to treat a wide variety of common mental health issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief, and relationship issues. However, my passion is helping stressed out men to overcome their barriers, bad-habits, and insecurities to experience healing and breakthrough. I do so using my training in counseling, my experience in ministry, and my expertise as a trained addiction coach. You know things seem off track yet can't seem to identify why. Things feel OFF! When we work together, we will gently learn the core of the distress that you are experiencing. As we learn your life history, we may find that some of the distress is rooted in early childhood trauma and attachment wounding. We will embrace and cherish all parts of yourself and learn about the challenging messages you may have grown up with that manifested into the distress you feel today. Distress can be a messenger, an alarm telling you that it is time to heal experiences from earlier in life. In our work together, we'll use EMDR, Emotion Focused Therapy and Expressive Arts to help you thrive.

We have often found that all too many have failed to realize that, in his Grace, God has provided hope and help. We use as our motto a passage Jesus used when beginning his ministry: "to bind up the broken hearted and set captives free" (Is. 61; Luke 4).
