My “crazy faith” in God and incredible journey as a father of seven drives my perseverance and commitment to being the best man he can be. Being a Christian certainly does not keep us from experiencing hard times, emotional struggles, illnesses, or relationship pain. My goal is to help you navigate whatever challenges you may be experiencing, either individually or as a couple, in a way that strengthens your faith and reminds you of the purpose God has for your life. While it can be incredibly hard to walk as a Christian in the world today, it is my belief that God will make a way.

Our deepest wounds are often those that are at the hands of another person. Human brokenness is the root of our need for redemption. This holds true in therapy and growth work as well. When we encounter our deep wounds, we encounter our need for our Big God. Here, we are able to reconcile the broken our hurt parts of our ourselves. Dr. Vanes been a pastor's wife for 15 years and is trained in integrated counseling with Masters degrees in Theology, Clinical Psychology, and Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Master's in Clinical Psychology: Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific Universality. Jace Draper is an LMFT with an MA from Azusa Pacific.

Gateway is a Christian based counseling center. That does not mean we don't see clients who don't have a faith basis to their life - we do. It also does not only mean that our counselors are Christian, although they are. What it does mean is that we integrate biblical principles with psychological truth. It means we will not give counsel that violates scriptural truth. Jesus said ,"you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Freedom from their emotional pain is what people are looking for and only the truth accomplishes that. There is a big difference between a center where the counselors are Christians and a Christian counseling center.
