Small children aged 3 to 8 typically do not participate in family therapy because the vast majority of therapists consider such children too young to articulate their feelings or understand complex patterns of behavior. I work with children ages 5 and above. I work with understanding the parents' concern about the presenting issue/s. I get the child's voice into the therapy session to explore understanding for therapy and develop goals. After therapeutic needs assessments, and establishing goals. I utilize either CBT or Solution Focused Brief Therapy along with art or play therapy. I will include family sessions, as I belief that changes are not only needed in the individual client, but in the family system.
