While I am not a Vocational Counselor, most of the individuals with whom I've worked to provide career type counseling did not need vocational testing to select a career. What they did need was a place to brainstorm ideas about a career move or an occupation change, someone to provide coaching about how to answer interview questions, complete a resume, and get on all the social media sites, such as Linkedin. Someone to help them sort out fears, emotional processes, or other people, that may be holding them back from moving forward. Any of us can get in a comfortable rut and remain stagnant and unhappy. I will help you access motivation to make a change.

Psychologists are trained in career coaching, as we have to take specialized courses in vocational assessment/counseling. When you are looking for a coach in this area, please ensure you are doing your homework and finding someone who is ACTUALLY trained in the specifics behind career counseling. This type of work can be extremely helpful when combined with proper assessment (e.g., STRONG inventory) that can guide us on your values, while also tuning into who YOU are - what you are saying and NOT saying that helps us to guide you on finding a career that will fuel you to feel energized about your life. My dad always used to say, do what. you love and you'll never work a day in your life!

I’ve often helped my clients through difficult transitions, including changes in career. I’ve guided those in college to navigate issues of meaning, purpose, and direction, have helped middle-aged men navigate the emotional stress and financial burden of providing for kids and elderly parents, and have coached successful men through transitions around retirement, role changes, and leaving a legacy. When I retired from professional football, I went on to work for the NFL to help other players navigate the difficult process of transitioning careers.
