Eating disorders are widely misunderstood as being simplistic and a choice. In my approach to treating eating disorders, I help people understand how eating disorders help them regulate their emotions and in turn assist patients in their everyday lives to develop emotional regulation skills that will enhance their lives. I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), helping clients achieve a sense of freedom and control over their lives, leading to long-term change.
