When working with couples, I focus both on specific issues you come to therapy to address as well as the root cause of those issues. Issues contributing to distress among couples can include their family of origin, outside stressors, or past relationships. I believe that good relationships are built on secure attachments, ones that are engaged and emotionally responsive to one another.
