My clients often find me easy to talk to and say they feel comfortable with me, trusting quickly. This can make the psychotherapeutic process easier and more effective for my clients, especially if they are nervous or don’t know what to expect. Therapy with me can range from just talking casually with each other, leading to insights, increased self awareness, and processing through emotional issues, or it could be more intensive deeper therapy like EMDR.

Therapy is not a one size fits all experience. Though I extensively trained to understand specific theories of practice, I utilize a "prescriptive" approach. This means I will adapt to your needs in treatment. Therapy is co-created, it is relational, and it is in the therapeutic relationship where we seek personal growth to apply outside the therapy room. I work with adult individual clients who are grieving a significant loss, LGBTIQ+ adults, adults with creative blocks, neurodivergent adults, people pleasers, those recovering from trauma, and adults burnt out about their work.

The process of therapy can be life-changing. It likely won't feel like it at first. You'll wonder what you're supposed to talk about and if you're doing it right. Some sessions will be inspiring and insightful; some will be boring and just plain hard. But over some time, we will develop a therapeutic relationship that will allow you to see yourself, life, and the people in it more clearly. You'll have a better understanding of your past and how you became the person you are today. You will likely get in touch with feelings, thoughts and beliefs that existed just below the surface. As we understand them and give them language, symptoms tend to diminish.

Therapy can be awkward- why would I talk to a complete stranger about my problems. But it can also be an empowering space where you can learn and explore who you are, your relationships, your reactions, and gain tools to learn how to make significant changes in your life. I work hard to bring my full self to each and every session, while staying curious and compassionate so you can explore your past, present, and future self. Together, we can take the what isn't working, and find ways to make the life you want!

My approach is to work collaboratively with clients using a holistic model of therapy which entails a blending of Eastern and Western modalities. For example, training in meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, proper exercise, a nutritious, science-based diet and maintaining proper sleep hygiene. Also, including talk therapy can then help to reveal core values and issues. Mindfulness training benefits clients in observing clearly thoughts and behaviours. Clients benefit greatly through the use of evidence based interventions by developing the skills needed to evaluate thought patterns and overcome destructive patterns.

My approach to psychotherapy is mostly relational. I take a family systems approach that addresses relationships in my clients' lives and improves their functioning for better health and happiness. Clients under my care learn how to unilaterally improve the functioning of a relationship through boundaries and self-confrontation. The result is individuals and relationships that thrive.
