I do not believe in "anger management". Instead, I believe in being in control of your emotions - including anger. My clients discover how to be in control of their feelings of anger or rage - instead of the anger or rage controlling them. My clients discover how they can feel anger, but then choose more effective and productive ways of expressing themselves - in ways that no longer lead to regret or hurt - but rather in ways they feel proud and good about.

Anger is actually a secondary emotion. Below anger one can almost always find more vulnerable emotions. It is difficult to access and communicate those more vulnerable feelings when emotions are running high. The first step is to learn to turn down the volume of the emotions. This can be done a using a variety of skills which I teach, such as through breath control, progressive muscle relaxation, body scan, calming imagery and affirmations, etc. Then once quieted we can help you to understand and be able to use constructively the deeper feelings and needs which fueled the overly strong anger response.
