Children often suffer from anxiety, depression and worry. I work with children of all ages, who are experiencing worry, anxiety, depression, ADHD, Aspergers/Autism and separation issues. I can also assist with parenting issues. Angry outbursts, tears, worry about being alone are all indicators that your child may be suffering from anxiety or depression.

Using multiple modalities we strive to help children with behavioral issues by encouraging open dialogue between a parent and child. This type of therapy focuses on establishing boundaries and fostering communication techniques that provide the child with a means of effective expression of their experiences and frustrations. Whether your child is experiencing a changing family dynamic due to divorce, self-esteem issues with peers, academic troubles, or sibling rivalry, we will work with the child to establish trust and communication in order to teach them to articulate their feelings in a constructive, productive manner.

I have worked with young children for three decades in school therapeutic settings. I have counselled children and their parents through all sorts of difficulties. I have insider knowledge about schools, school behaviour problems, and special education. I am passionate about helping children find their tears, so they can release emotions safely and continue to grow.

I work with teens from ages 13 and up. Having raised 4 children my self I am very comfortable and hopefully knowledgable working with teens. Teenage years can be a very turbulant time for both the theens and their families. Working with teens I have whitnessed the anxiety and stress they often feel around such areas as peer pressure, friendships gone wrong, feeling lonely, unsafe sex ect. These teens , despite having loving and caring parents often tell no one about how they feel. The great benifit in counselling is that they "get it out" in a non destructive way..often avoiding overwhelming feelings that can lead to very impulsive and distructive acts.

Inside of each of us is a child. Corny I know however if we can approach the children who will one day be our leaders we will bring healing to the child in us and the next generation. Empathize with everyone. Man, woman and child. That is my framework and philosophy. Children and teens/young adults are our legacy. Let us treat them well - with compassion, acceptance, respect and ultimately Hope.

With young children, I utilize play-based therapy, which allows them to express their emotions and fears in a natural way. I make therapy enjoyable and effective by incorporating games, stories, and art, helping children learn to communicate their feelings and needs while also developing emotional regulation skills. I provide a safe and supportive environment, guiding them until they can navigate their emotions independently.

I will help guide the child towards what they find most comfortable in expressing how they are feeling and their thought process to help them cope with their problem. This may include story telling with figures/puppets, drawing, role playing, stuffed animals or with toys, creative visualization, arts and crafts. Situations can by acted out to understand their concerns and thoughts through play therapy based on their developmental level.

Children older than six can benefit from working with me if they experience any of the following: • Anxieties, such as separation anxiety, performance anxiety or general anxiety • Fears or phobias • Traumas such as abuse, accidents, or other traumatic events • Behavioural issues such as angry outbursts, stealing or skipping school • Emotional dysregulation The techniques I use, including EMDR, hypnotherapy and CBT, are very effective with children, resulting in great relief in symptoms within a few sessions!
