When it comes to anger management, we know that there are underlying reasons that trigger our clients to feel frustrated. We work from different modalities that fit best with the client to help them find new ways of dealing with how they feel. We teach them new ways of coping and dealing with everyday stressors. We work collaboratively with the client so that they can feel in control of their emotions again.

Anger mangement is primarily based on Cogntitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), though is integrated with other approches considering the needs, age and situation of the individual. Art and Play therapy may be used with children, (as well as Art Therapy for adults) in the understanding, expression and processing of anger in intent to reduce the experience of anger and its expression. Positive coping and management are promoted and families (parents+kids) in conflict can expect to explore ideas / models of conflict reduction. In this way, parents of kids should expect to be involved in learnining how to deal with anger and how to assit their children in learning improved ways of anger management

Personally, I struggle with the term "anger management". Anger is an important emotion that needs to be viewed through a lens of acceptance not barred to a back room. Until a person understands the myriad of emotions that lie under the surface of 'anger', they are often controlled by these emotions, One of the purposes of anger is to alert the emotional person to the fact that something is wrong (much like pain signals the body when something is wrong). People do need to "control" their behaviour - especially when feelings are strong. i believe that people can learn to manage their life better once they understand what is affecting them AND what they want to accomplish by their action.

Anger is a surface level emotion. There is nothing wrong with anger as it serves a useful purpose alerting us to how passionately we feel about a given circumstance. It is when we lose control of ourselves and react instead of creating a purposeful action to that event. Looking to our deeper beliefs, emotions, and values is key to understanding our anger and being able to use it in a constructive way. Your emotions are real and legitimate; don’t let anyone take them away from you. However, you have the responsibility to communicate them constructively and use them in ways that enrich your life. By learning how to use your anger as an alarm that tells you to communicate your thoughts, values ....

Anger can be a reaction to a range of experiences, from past traumas to present-day stressors, and EMDR can help to desensitize and reprocess these experiences, reducing the intensity of the emotional response. Through the use of bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or tapping, EMDR can help to process the distressing memories and emotions, leading to increased emotional regulation and a greater sense of control over one's emotional response. By addressing the underlying emotional triggers, EMDR can help to alleviate symptoms of anger and promote more adaptive coping strategies.

As a retired Marine Corps Officer, I have had a lot of experience with anger management, both personally and with my clients. Once again, I feel the key to anger management is identifying the root cause of anger. Oftentimes we improperly project our internal anger onto someone who does not deserve it. My clients report that after working with me, they no longer project anger onto the innocent people in their lives.

Anger can feel all-consuming, scary, and "bad" for a lot of people. When I address anger with clients, we work on developing a new relationship with this powerful emotion so that the anger is understood, experienced and expressed in helpful ways. Working through anger with clients often leads to developing greater skills in assertiveness and communication.

I will go over with clients situations that result in them being angry, triggers of their anger and what their thoughts are when they are angry. We will go over how we think affects how we feel and how we feel affects how we behave. We will go over ways to help clients regulate their emotions better when they are angry. Strategies can include ways to manage impulse control, breathing exercises, and relaxation exercises overall.

Anger is a complex issue. Some ancient philosophers thought it could be useful at the right times, others thought it was only useful in the way alcohol was - inebriating us from fear. However, in the highest extent of anger it is generally acknowledged that it can take over, so we do cruel things that we regret later. If anger is useful, it is only in a lesser form that we might call frustration. My hope is that we can learn to understand the underlying parts of the frustration, so it can be a reliable tool that doesn't lead to uncontrollable anger.

Anger can be understood as a secondary emotion. This means that oftentimes, there is another emotion, such as sadness or fear underlying our anger. Anger can feel strong and uncomfortable for many and my hope is that through our work together, clients can learn to regulate their anger so it doesn't feel as consuming in their life. I believe that whatever is under our anger is still important to express and by learning regulation, we can achieve this and ultimately be responsive rather than reactive. We will do this by identifying triggers and building coping strategies as well as connecting with underlying emotions that can bring further awareness and healing.

Anger is not an emotion....did you now that?? It came as a surprise to me, since my whole life I just assumed it was. However, instead, anger is a type of communication we choose to use when we are hurt or feel that we are being treated unfairly or taken advantage of. Now this is good news! Methods of communication are a lot easier to change than are the feelings we encounter - although even feelings can be changed. Don't let your ANGER communication style- cramp your relationships or prevent you from getting want you need out of life and from your loved ones. If you want to change, help is a close as a phone call away. Marriage-Works, is focused on helping you find the peace you want

Anger is often something we feel when we are afraid or hurt. I work with clients to understand their anger; how it feels, how it affects them, and what their triggers may be. By first understanding, our emotions can help us work towards having more control over them. After that, we can work on coping mechanisms and strategies to help us find more peace, calm and overall wellness in our lives.
