Being a part of a couple isn't easy is it or not as easy as we would hope. We are different people with different values and expectations. In our time together I will work with the couple to recognize destructive and constructive communication patterns as well as helping each person develop insight as to how they might be a part of the problem. Often couples feel encouraged with how much they aren't fighting. My goal is help the client know what they are fighting for.

My work with couples includes those who are married as well as those who are not. Couples who are planning to marry come to me with a desire to develop a strong foundation from which their marriage will grow. Other couples -- whether married or not -- seek a counselor when they need someone to help them deal with conflict between them, conflict with others, communication issues, family members, and other relationship struggles.

We get into relationships because we want something; both conscious and subconscious. It could be as simple as not wanting to be alone, or it could be as complex as wanting a "soulmate." Whatever you bring to the relationship is going to remind you and your partner of previous experiences. This then causes perception issues which then leads to communication issues. Of course, over-reactions are likely. Our work is to minimize this unfinished business so that the two of you can experience one another through the lens of the present. This allows you to have a "rich" experience of one another.
